The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Ohio State defensive end Cameron Heyward with the 31st pick in the first round of the 2011 draft.
A record 12 defensive linemen were selected in the first round.
The Steelers selected Heyward over other 1st round targets, cornerback Aaron Williams and OT Derek Sherrod.
The buzz this morning was that the Steelers were leaning in Heywards direction over Williams.
If anyone’s staying up, TIOPS Steelers beat writer Dale Grdnic will have a full recap from the Steelers Southside Complex on tonight’s pick with reactions from the Steelers brass in the next hour.
