Steelers sign FB Carey Davis

The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought back full back Carey Davis. The team agreed to terms with the former full back this afternoon, TIOPS contributor Mike Vukovcan has learned.

An official announcement is expected this afternoon from the team.

Davis will practice with the team on Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday night against the San Diego Chargers.

Tight end David Johnson will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks with an high ankle sprain and FB Frank Summers will not be available against San Diego due to a back injury.

Johnson must be out a few weeks, and apparently no faith in Tank,, but i like Carey Davis...Now if we could just get rid of Sweed

lets not give up on sweed yet, i know he's had his drops but what wide receiver hasn't, give it some time, lets not throw him under the bus just yet.

well, if sweed keeps dropping passes and wallace keeps producing, i think sweed's time in the burgh has got to be limited

Sweed seems to drop a majority of his catchable balls, but hasn't Holmes the last two games as well. If it wasn't for Wallace stepping up there would be a great cause for concern. Although we've given the last two games away I still feel very confident in my 12-4 prediction and the team in general. Now a loss on Sunday and....

The 2008 draft class is beginning to look like a major waste. Mendenhall, Sweed, B. Davis and Hills the top four. Wow, can we get any less production. Only Dixon and Mundy seem worthwhile and they're not even starters.

I hope Sweed makes it, he has the speed..He seems to beat his man on deep routes, Ben threw 2 great td passes, last week in Cinn and in AFC Championship game, he dropped them both... roaddogg- right on, Holmes needs to show up...each week... also, We have Holmes, Ward, Wallace, Heath needs to get more involved in this offense, esp in the red zone..

deesh- Timmons has the chance to be special, and with all the great lb's in the burgh, that is saying something... also, kudos to the oline- they played great in Cincinnati.

SV - I'm against Carey Davis as much as anyone on here but if you think that Summers or Johnson actually helped the run game more than Carey Davis would you are just irrational. Davis is bad, no doubt about it, but Johnson and Summers were TERRIBLE!

I don't think those guys are much better either. I'd rather look at a TJ Duckett. Hard to believe but we miss Sean McHugh at fullback.

Gee...you think Tomlin is a bit tired of hearing Bruce Ariens talk about not needing a fullback in his offense after three putrid games running the football...and for those who say we ran the ball just fine last week...is that why we threw it on third and two three times as the game was slipping away...
