The Pittsburgh Penguins have explored trading the rights of Max Talbot but the possibility of Talbot’s rights being moved before Friday is very unlikely and I wouldn’t look for it.
As reports out of Canada surfaced that the Toronto Maple Leafs could be closing in on acquiring Talbot’s rights, those in Talbot’s camp told Inside Pittsburgh Sports tonight that Talbot has no intentions to sign with any team that were to acquire his rights. Talbot has informed the Penguins of his intentions.
“Max is preparing to go to July 1, ” a league source said.

The Maple Leafs who gave former Penguin Colby Armstrong a three year – $9 million last summer, are expected to be among the top suitors for Talbot.
Other teams expected to show heavy interest include Detroit, San Jose, Columbus, Tampa Bay and the Florida Panthers.
Indications as now is that the Montreal Canadiens are not a likely landing spot for Talbot.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are very high on Talbot’s wishlist.
