A report yet again surfaced that the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired the negotiating rights for Max Talbot. This time from RDS.Ca.
However, Talbot’s camp has shot down those rumors, saying his rights have not been moved.
Talbot reps Pat Brisson and Jim Nice haven’t changed their stance of Talbot hitting the open market and have informed interested teams, that Talbot intends to test the market.
The Penguins gave the Leafs permission to negotiate with Talbot during draft weekend and that window has closed.
Talbot is said to be looking for a 4-to-5 year deal on the open market worth at least $2 million per season.
Toronto is a team of interest for Talbot but they want to explore all options. Others expected to aggressively pursue Talbot include:

Columbus, San Jose, Detroit, Chicago, Florida Panthers and possibly the Tampa Bay Lightning.
