Updated 7:05: The Steelers have signed first round pick Lawrence Timmons to a 5 year deal.

A anonymous source has revealed the Penguins have held discussions with defenseman David Tanabe within the past week. The anonymous source says a offer has been made from the Penguins and a decision is expected back from Tanabe this week. “We should hear by Wednesday if Tanabe will accept this offer”, according to the anonymous source.

The Penguins offer to Tanabe is believed to be a 1 year deal worth 900K.

The Boston Bruins have inquired about defenseman Mark Eaton

It’s been speculated for weeks that Troy Polamalu is expected to agree to a long term extension this week. Polamalu is seeking to become the leagues highest paid safety and the deal is expected to include up to 16-17 million in guaranteed money.
