Chicago, Toronto and Florida are very interested in Jordan Staal who is off limits at this time. The Hawks are willing to move Cam Barker and will listen to offers for Martin Havlat
Philadelphia is aggressively trying to upgrade their blue line. Jeff Carter is not available but they are looking to move prospects for an immediate impact player. They would love to make a play for Leafs D Tomas Kaberle
The Flames have been trying to gauge interest in Cory Sarich but according to sources, no one will touch his salary. Robyn Regher is available for the right price. The Flames continue to have their sights set on Brian Gionta who appears to be interested in testing free agency next summer

At last year’s trade deadline the Penguins made a play for Olli Jokinen. I learned this week that when Marian Hossa informed the Penguins he was declining their offer on the day of the draft there were some executives in the Penguins organization that wanted to make a offer for Jokinen but Ray Shero was not ready to give up on signing Marian Hossa. Due to the Penguins/Panthers talks at the draft about a Ryan Whitney/David Booth trade, some believe the Penguins could have had a strong chance to acquire Jokinen.
Marian Hossa is already paying dividends for the Detroit Red Wings. Hossa leads the Wings with 11 points including 5 points in his last two games.
