The Latest Steelers Buzz

The bye week could not come at a better time for the Steelers. Brett Keisel and Willie Parker are expected to return in week 7. Hampton’s status remains uncertain. Jeff Reed should be ready to go for Cincinnati. No word on Marvel Smith
Despite a depleted defensive line, opponents are averaging less than 3.0 yards per carry against the Steelers
Clark Haggans (4) and James Harrison (9) combined for 13 sacks last season. Through five games LaMarr Woodley (5.5) and James Harrison (6.5) have combined for 12 sacks. The pressure the Steelers are bringing from the outside is the major difference between this years D compared to last years D. The athleticism of Lawrence Timmons has added another dimension to go along with Troy Polamalu playing his best football since the 2005 season.

Darnell Stapleton performed very well Sunday night. Stapleton has been one of Mike Tomlin’s projects since last year
A source believes the Steelers will make Bryant McFadden and Chris Kemoeatu a priority following the season.
If Marvel Smith misses any time, Max Starks will be the teams starter. Trai Essex took the majority of snaps at left tackle in practice and that’s why he was inserted into the lineup when Smith left the game
A Steelers insider told me Limas Sweed has been quietly improving his practice habits. He’s beginning to grasp the offense and if he continues on the upswing, Sweed may pass up Dallas Baker on the depth chart and see sometime as the Steelers #4 receiver. The biggest adjustment Sweed has had to make is breaking away from defenders at the line of scrimmage.
