Optional Practice Notes & Latest on Crosby
The Pittsburgh Penguins went through an optional practice today at Southpointe and will go through another skate tomorrow morning before traveling to Boston for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Bruins.
On the injury front, injured enforcer Eric Godard is starting to go through individual workouts as he recovers from a broken orbital bone. Godard though is still weeks away from being cleared to play.
Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby’s concussion is more severe than first thought as he was diagnosed with a mild concussion eight days ago.

Crosby remains off the ice and is still having concussion like symptoms and minor headaches according to sources. One team source told me today that the injury has been “scary” for Crosby who fully intends to be very cautious when returning to activity.
Head coach Dan Bylsma said today that there will be no daily updates on Crosby until he is symptom free.
Crosby will miss Saturday’s game and now appears to be a pretty big longshot to be cleared for early next week, which was the more projected timetable initially.
