Day After
The Pittsburgh Penguins returned to the ice this morning after last night’s debacle. Despite getting embarrassed on home ice and giving up five third period goals en route to a 7-4 loss, practice through the first 30+ minutes has been status quo.
The team has opened up practice with their normal flow, shooting and line rush drills. There has been no bag skate or the players going through an extremely hard skate.
Attention to details with a focus on D-zone play has has highlighted the drills in the second half of practice.
A few personnel notes, Evgeni Malkin is not practicing. He has been given a maintaince day by the coaching staff. Malkin remains bothered by a left leg injury. He’s expected to be available tomorrow night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
During the Penguins line rushes and D-Pairs this morning, Deryk Engelland remained the odd-man out, working as the 4th pair.
