Today had a July 1 Free Agency Frenzy feel to it with several big signings and trades going down. Another big name on the move is Ryan Smyth who is expected to be dealt to the Calgary Flames or the Edmonton Oilers.
Here's a rundown of today's transactions:
Philadelphia: Acquired forward Jakub Voracek, a first-round draft pick and a third-round draft pick in 2011 from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Jeff Carter
Acquired forwards Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, and a second-round draft pick in 2012 from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Mike Richards;
Signed goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9 year - $51.5 million deal.
Columbus: Acquired forward Jeff Carter from the Philadelphia Flyers inexchange for Jakub Voracek, a first-round draft pick and a third-round draft pick in 2011
Los Angeles: Acquired center Mike Richards from the Philadelphia Flyers inexchange for forwards Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Scheen and a second round draft pick in 2012.
San Jose: Signed forward Devin Setoguchi to a three-year contract extension worth $9 million
Montreal: signed defenseman Andrei Markov to a three year deal. The new deal will carry a cap hit of $5.75 million
