Leon HallOne name that’s being discussed internally is bringing in former Bengals cornerback Leon Hall for a visit, Inside Pittsburgh Sports learned.

The Steelers reached out to Hall’s camp on Monday night and it’s unclear at this point if Hall is interested in taking the visit.

Hall, 31, is one of the best remaining free agents available and is primarily a slot corner. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 33rd best cornerback in 2015.

Hall remains unsigned for money reasons and is coming off back surgery.

The 31 year old made $7 million last season and has been against playing for around the league minimum, making him an unlikely fit in Pittsburgh. That said, the Steelers wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t reach out and they are interested in bringing him in to see where he stands health wise.

Hall would immediately bolster the Steelers cornerback situation that is a major unknown behind William Gay.

Gay and Ross Cockrell are slated to start on the outside with Sean Davis now the top candidate to play the slot that would take Davis out of being the every down safety.

Rookie Artie Burns looks everything of a project this season and 2nd year pro Doran Grant is showing no signs of being an NFL caliber corner.

Whether it’s bringing in a slot corner or signing an outside corner and play William Gay inside, the Steelers are most certainly going to have to bring in a veteran corner for depth.

Hey Cortez Allen is still out there.
