To Pittsburgh: Mark Steit
To Tampa Bay: 2018 4th round pick

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Mark Streit from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round draft pick. Streit had been acquired by the Lightning from the Philadelphia Flyers earlier in the day and then flipped to Pittsburgh.

Streit will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

The 39-year-old blueliner had 21 points (5G-16A) in 49 games with the Flyers this year, where he was logging 19:23 overall minutes, with 2:32 of that time on ice coming on the power play.

To Pittsburgh: Frank Corrado
To Toronto: Eric Fehr, Steve Oleksy, 2017 4th round pick

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Frank Corrado from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Eric Fehr, Steve Oleksy and a 2017 fourth-round draft pick.

Corrado will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Corrado, 23, has 12 points (1G-11A) and is plus-6 in 18 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies this year. He appeared in two games with the Maple Leads this season.

The puck moving defenseman has eight points (3G-5A) in 69 career NHL games split between Toronto and the Vancouver Canucks.

11:30 a.m.: Pens still courting Kulikov: The Penguins are in on more than one defenseman but the team is waiting on Buffalo’s Dmitry Kulikov before moving on to others.

Crickets on Fleury Market: Five hours until the trade deadline and a market for Marc Andre Fleury has yet to develop. Penguin sources continue to call a trade unlikely.  Sources say Calgary has not engaged the Penguins in talks over the last couple days and we’ll see if that changes throughout the rest of the day. The goaltending market right now is centered around Jarsolav Halak and there’s at least team looking at Ryan Miller.

Penguins have talked Vrbata/Duclair: The Penguins continuing to poke around on adding a forward due to the injury to Bryan Rust, have had discussions with the Coyotes about Radim Vrbata. Vrbata, 35, has 15 goals and 47 points on the season. Craig Custance of ESPN reports the Bruins, Flames are also among the teams with interest. Vrbata has a $250,000 playoff bonus + additional $250,000  for  each round that the team he is on advances, so he carries risk with the performance bonuses for next season. Lots of talk of Anthony Duclair. Pittsburgh has checked into the asking price of Duclair also as the Coyotes are testing the market.

Penguins have 3rd/4th round grade on Quincey: The Penguins remain on the hunt for a defenseman and have three targets they are considering. Former Penguins GM Ray Shero is holding out for a 2nd round pick for Kyle Quincey, though, most believe he’ll go for a third rounder. Penguins monitoring that market.

NHL Source: Penguins on Shane Doan’s six-team list: Veteran forward Shane Doan provided the Phoenix Coyotes a list of six teams he’d consider waiving his no trade clause to, though, few around the league believe he’ll be moved. The Penguins are one of the six, a source close to Doan says. That said, it’s a moot point, Pittsburgh is not interested.
