We’re on waiver watch today as the Penguins have hit the ice. The team will not make any roster moves before today’s practice which began at 10:30 a.m.
Bubble players Eric Tangradi, Simon Despres, Andrew Hutchinson and Deryk Engelland are all on the ice this morning.
Arron Asham (shoulder) and Ryan Craig (groin) remain sidelined and are not practicing. Dan Bylsma is expected to update the status of both players after practice. Asham was evaluated by team doctors on Monday.
Here are the lines and pairings at today’s skate:
Lines
Kunitz – Crosby – Dupuis
Tangradi – Comrie – Malkin
Cooke – Letestu – Kennedy
Rupp – Talbot – Adams
Godard extra
Defensemen
Orpik – Michalek
Martin – Letang
Goligoski – Lovejoy
Despres – Engelland/Hutchinson
Live Updates – 10:45 a.m.
*For the second straight practice, Ben Lovejoy opened up practice as the third pairing with Alex Goligoski. The Penguins started out practice with some flow drills then went into 5-on-0’s and neutral zone regroups. Through the first 15 minutes of practice, Andrew Hutchinson appears to be the odd-man out as Simon Despres and Deryk Engelland have been the 4th pairing.
10:50 a.m. Power Play Work
The Penguins 1st power play unit is on the ice and there’s some changes upfront.
Down low is Mike Comrie with Chris Kunitz in front and Sidney Crosby on the half boards.

Evgeni Malkin is playing the left point with Alex Goligoski at the right point. Mike Comrie is playing in the middle of the ice acting as a decoy. He had a scary moment for a second and was nailed in the ankle with an Alex Goligoski slap shot. Was down for a few seconds but appears okay and is back on the ice.
2nd unit: Kennedy – Rupp – Letestu
Martin – Letang
Mike Rupp is playing the front net presence role on the 2nd unit. Letestu and Kennedy are both working the half boards.
11:05 a.m. Tangradi odd man out on power play
The Penguins are now about 15 minutes into their power play work and Eric Tangradi was the odd-man out on both units. He replaced Mike Rupp for only one live 5-on-4 session with the 2nd unit. That has caught my eye today.
Both groups are now going into their 5-on-3 setups and there has been no change to either unit.
1st Unit: Kunitz – Crosby – Comrie
Malkin – Goligoski
2nd Unit: Rupp – Kennedy – Letestu
Martin – Letang
11:15 a.m. Pens working on situational play
The Penguins are working on 6-on-5 situations.
Upfront is Kunitz – Crosby – Comrie – Malkin with Goligoski and Letang at the points. Pens working on faceoffs and getting the puck in the zone with the goalie pulled. Today’s practice is having a strong focus on situational play.
Will have more later.
