Zach Parise scored twice and Ryan Miller made 19 saves as the United States defeated Switzerland 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in quarterfinals action.
The United States out shot Switzerland 44-18 and it was a gritty hard fought win for the Americans who held a 32-8 shot advantage after the second period.
Jonas Hiller was exceptional in goal for Switzerland, making 42 saves on 43 shots.
The Americans will now play the winner of Finland-Czech Republic in the semi finals on Friday.
