WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Dec. 1) – The California University of Pennsylvania football team featured five players on the Daktronics All-Super Region 1 Teams, highlighted by senior offensive linemen Dan Jordan (Tionesta, Pa./Redbank Valley) and Nick Piccirillo (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) earning first-team honors.
Jordan received Daktronics first-team all-region honors for the second-straight year, while it marked the first regional laurel for Piccirillo. Junior linebacker Brett Diamond (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca), senior punter Derek Fiorenza (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan/Villanova) and junior defensive back Erik Harris (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) each received second-team accolades.
Jordan and Piccirillo were two of the most experienced players for Cal U, as the senior duo combined to make 91 career starts. They anchored an offensive line that helped the Vulcans average 34.8 points, 163.9 rushing yards and 391.3 yards of total offense per game. Piccirillo finished his career by making 51 consecutive starts at center, while Jordan made 40 career starts (28 consecutive).
A three-year starter, Diamond tied his career high and led the team with 64 tackles (29 solo). He also registered a career-best 9.0 tackles for loss (TFL), including 4.5 sacks, and scored his first career touchdown on an interception return.
Fiorenza was selected as the all-region second-team punter for the third-consecutive year. As a senior, he ranked second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with an average of 39.6 yards per punt. Fiorenza placed 17 of his 49 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and booted six punts over 50 yards.
Harris led the secondary and tied for second on the team with 61 stops (33 solo), while also tallying 5.0 TFL and 1.0 sack. The 6-2 junior helped Cal U lead the conference in interceptions after tying his career high with three interceptions.
With their first-team selections, Jordan and Piccirillo are now eligible for the Daktronics All-America teams.
