To no surprise, things are very active on the waiver wire today. The Penguins as expected did not make any claims but several other teams did, including rivals Philadelphia and Washington.
The conference leading Philadelphia Flyers in the market for a defenseman, claimed Nick Boynton from the Chicago Blackhawks, while the Washington Capitals claimed forward Marco Sturm from the Los Angeles Kings.
The Columbus Blue Jackets also actively in the market for a defenseman, claimed veteran Craig Rivet from the Buffalo Sabres today.
Put on waivers today were goaltenders Pascal LeClaire and former Penguin Ty Conklin. The New York Islanders today put Rob Schremp and Nathan Lawson on waivers.
The Detroit Red Wings are believed to have interest in Conklin.
