Week 3 has some great matchups but you will have to wait until later in the day on Sunday.
Kansas City (0-2) at Atlanta (1-1) 1:00pm – The Chiefs are down to their third-string quarterback and Larry Johnson is not happy with his role on the team. Matt Ryan will not be facing a defense like Tampa Bay.
Depaoli – Atlanta <> Tim – Atlanta
Oakland (1-1) at Buffalo (2-0) 1:00pm РOakland rushed for 300 yards last week against Kansas City but they will face the Bills fifth-ranked defense who is giving up less than 250 yards per game. Trent Edwards has settled into the Bills ball-control offense which has let their defense and special teams control their two wins.
Depaoli – Buffalo <> Tim – Buffalo
Cincinnati (0-2) at N.Y. Giants (2-0) 1:00pm РCincinnati is a team in trouble. The Bengals dynamic offense is stuck in neutral with Carson Palmer passing for 228 yards total in two games. Not a good time to face the Giants third-ranked defense.
Depaoli РN.Y. Giants <> Tim РN.Y. Giants
Miami (0-2)¬†at New England (2-0)¬†1:00pm – Joey Porter gave New England some bulletin board material by saying, “it’ll be good to go out and get our first victory” and “If it is not Tom Brady, it shouldn’t be that hard”. It won’t be easy when your starting quarterback is 2-6 as a starter against the Patriots.
Depaoli – New England <> Tim – New England
Houston (0-1)¬†at Tennessee (2-0)¬†1:00pm – Houston showed no ability to run or pass¬†against the Steelers and it won’t get easier when they visit Tennessee. The Titans have the second-ranked defense but Kerry Collins is always a wildcard.
Depaoli РTennessee <> Tim РTennessee
Tampa Bay (1-1) at Chicago (1-1) 1:00pm РDefense will be front and center in this matchup. Both teams boast quick, strong defenses so the offense that makes the least mistakes will win. Special teams could play a big factor if Devin Hester is healthy for the Bears.
Depaoli – Chicago <> Tim – Chicago
Arizona (2-0) at Washington (1-1) 1:00pm РArizona opened the season against two of the weaker teams in the NFL but will step up in competition when they head into Washington. Kurt Warner has proved that he is worthy of being the Cardinals starting quarterback with his second-ranked NFL passer rating. The Redskins offense finally clicked in the fourth quarter last week by scoring twice to defeat the Saints. It will have to carry over to keep up.
Depaoli РArizona <> Tim РWashington
Carolina (2-0) at Minnesota (0-2) 1:00pm РCarolina has comeback late in their two wins while Minnesota blew a 15-point halftime lead last week to lose in the waning seconds. Steve Smith will make his season debut after sitting out a team mandated two game suspension and Jake Delhomme will now have his favorite target to go along with a dynamic running game. Minnesota will turn to Gus Frerotte in order to help out their fourth-ranked rushing offense.
Depaoli – Carolina <> Tim – Minnesota
New Orleans (1-1)¬†at Denver (2-0)¬†4:05pm – Which Drew Brees will show up? The Brees from Week 1 that threw for 343 yards and 3 TD or Brees from Week 2 that threw for 216 yards and 2 INT. Denver is averaging 40 points per game but had some “help” last week in defeating San Diego. Denver was unable to contain San Diego’s speed last week and it won’t get easier with Reggie Bush in town.
Depaoli – Denver <> Tim – Denver
Detroit (0-2)¬†at San Francisco (1-1) 4:05pm – Detroit fought back against Green Bay last week behind Jon Kitna to Calvin Johnson TD passes but¬†lost behind Jon Kitna TD passes to Green Bay’s defense. J.T. O’Sullivan has finally found a home¬†quarterbacking the¬†49ers after bouncing around the league for six years. Frank Gore will play a huge role in this game as the 49ers will try and ground out a win at home.
Depaoli РSan Francisco <> Tim РSan Francisco
St. Louis (0-2)¬†at Seattle (0-2)¬†4:05pm –St. Louis has been blown out in both games this season and Seattle’s Matt Hassleback has struggled to the tune of a 45% completion percentage.
Depaoli – Seattle <> Tim – Seattle
Cleveland (0-2)¬†at Baltimore (1-0)¬†4:15pm –This is not the way Cleveland’s rise to the top of their division was supposed to start. The Browns offense has yet to get on track and Romeo Crennel has not helped with his clock management and poor field goal decisions. Baltimore’s defense looked impressive in Week 1 and rookie QB Joe Flacco had an unexpected week off to get more familiar with the Ravens offense.¬†
Depaoli - Cleveland <> Tim РBaltimore
Jacksonville (0-2)¬†at Indianapolis (1-1)¬†4:15pm – Jacksonville’s offensive line is in shambles which has led to 131 total rushing yards in two games. At times, the Jaguars rushed for that¬†before halftime¬†last year. The Colts offense has not been much better. Injuries to their line have led to a poor start for Joseph Addai and Peyton Manning. Add the fact that super-safety Bob Sanders will be out 6 weeks, this game will be an early season must win for both teams.
Depaoli – Indianapolis <> Tim – Indianapolis
Dallas (2-0)¬†at Green Bay (2-0)¬†8:15pm – The marquee matchup of the weekend gets primetime billing Sunday night. Aaron Rodgers will get another chance at the Cowboys after replacing Brett Favrelast year in their regular season meeting in Dallas. Rodgers looked as impressive in that game as he has looked this year. Dallas high-powered offense has put up 69 points and 867 yards in two games led by Tony Romo and his 4 TD passes. Romo’s favorite target, Jason Witten,¬†was dinged up Monday night but practiced this week and is scheduled to play.
Depaoli – Dallas <> Tim – Dallas
Pittsburgh (2-0) at Philadelphia (1-1) 4:15pm РThe battle of Pennsylvania will come down to the Steelers ability to control the ball and limit the amount of times Brian Westbrook gets into open space. The Eagles like to lineup Westbrook all over the field to get favorable matchups and when they do expect Lawrence Timmons to be there to greet him. AFC Defensive Player of the Week, Troy Polamalu, much like Westbrook, will be everywhere in the hopes of disrupting the Eagles high-scoring offense. Look for the Steelers to try the deep ball a few times as the Eagles safeties are on the slow side and were burned a few times Monday night.
Depaoli – Pittsburgh <> Tim – Pittsburgh
Depaoli – 11-4 last week; 23-8 season
Tim – 11-4 last week; 20-11 season
