Source: Willie Colon to have surgery on Wednesday

Inside Pittsburgh Sports contributor Tim Benz informs me that he just spoke with Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Willie Colon regarding his injury.

Colon has informed Benz that he is scheduled have surgery on Wednesday.

Colon suffered an achilles injury today working out at the Steelers facility. Colon will be placed on injured reserve and miss the entire 2010 season.

The four year veteran has started every game at right tackle since the 2007 season.

I don't think so, it will be Essex or Scott. I don't think Foster is a T at all in the NFL.

We aren't talking about chopped liver either, if he was going to hit the open market he would have got paid like a son of a bitch for a reason. I guess the NFL talent evaluators are incorrect.

My guess is the haters will see how good he actually is, and he was playing with some of the worst RG's in the league. This year he was going to at least have Pouncey next to him, instead its going to be Pouncey and Essex/Scott. Yikes.

Urbik can play RT I think. Maybe Tony Hills finally does something? This may have saved his roster spot.

Jeffed, are you sure you aren't thinking of Essex? I thought I remember him being a pain in the pull game. Either way, we will see Colon's true value. Over 1000 snaps and only six sacks given up.

Urbik doesn't have the feet to play RT. SV84, not sure where you're getting your stats from. A few sites I've seen have Colon at 12 sacks in 2007 with 45 penalty yards, 6 sacks in 2008 with 75 penalty yards, 9.25 sacks in 2009 with 40 penalty yards. Colon was a very good RT for the first half of 2009, but he was just terrible for the 2nd half.
