PIRATES MAGIC NUMBER TO CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH AT 3
Vance Worley threw eight dominant innings and Russell Martin drove in the games only run on an RBI single in the seventh, leading the Pirates to a 1-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers, inched closer to earning a playoff spot, moving 4.5 games ahead of the Brewers.
A Giants 8-2 loss to the Padres hours later now has the Pirates moving into the top wildcard spot with seven games to go.
Pittsburgh and San Francisco both have identical records at 84-71 but the Pirates own the head to head tiebreaker.
