Tyler Bitancurt's fourth field goal of the night, a 43-yarder as time expired, prevailed West Virginia (8-3) to a 19-16 win in the 102nd edition of the Backyard Brawl.
The loss ended Pitt's five game winning streak but the Panthers can still earn BCS Conference Bid and win the Big East Crown with a win against Cincinnati on December 5th.
The Panthers (9-2) struggled in the passing game and failed to get the ball in the endzone despite until their last offensive series, when Stull connected with Jonathan Baldwin for a 50 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 16-16.
The 50 yard touchdown pass was Stull's only big play of the game as the senior quarterback was 16 of 30 for 179 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Pitt running back Dion Lewis ran for 155 yards and Dan Hutchins kicked three field goals for the Panthers. West Virginia running back Noel Devine rushed for 134 yards including a 88 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
West Virginia finished 7-0 at home for the first time since 1993.
