Mike Tomlin to receive contract extension

Entering the fourth year of his contract, speculation has been rampant this off-season, Steelers ownership may have their doubts about head coach Mike Tomlin being the right guy for the job. However, those in the know have contended for months it was a certainty Tomlin would receive a contract extension before training camp. According to a report by Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that will be the case. Bouchette reports Tomlin has agreed to a new three year extension that runs through the 2014 season. Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma has not been happy with the production of his top-2 line wingers. Bill Guerin is the only consistent winger the Penguins have had all season playing with Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin. Yesterday in practice, Michael Rupp skated with Sidney Crosby while Ruslan Fedotenko took line rushes on the third and fourth line. More changes are instore tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. The Pittsburgh will host three offensive linemen on Sunday – Tuesday. At the top of the Steelers wishlist in the first round is Cal’s Alex Mack. The Steelers had three representatives at Cal’s pro day and Ed Thompson reports, Mack will be in Pittsburgh for a visit on Sunday On Monday the Steelers will hold a private workout for Louisville center Eric Wood.
