NFL: Browns new regime in disarray; Rodgers wants out

Probowl DT Shaun Rodgers wants out of Cleveland. “Rogers has grown so disenchanted with the situation in Cleveland that he has asked the Browns not to pick up the $6 million option-bonus payment due to him next month, a source close to the defensive tackle said. Rogers would rather be released after one season with the Browns, despite still being owed another $15 million in guaranteed money.” Source: NFL.com

NFL Mock Draft Version 3

NFL Mock Draft ¬†1) DETROIT LIONS> MATTHEW STAFFORD, QB, GEORGIA– With Sam Bradford returning to Oklahoma for another season, Stafford holds on to the top selection. Sanchez has closed the gap between him and Stafford, but I still think that Stafford is the better selection. Stafford has a stronger arm and he has greatly improved his decision making this season. Sanchez is more of a project, he has significant injury issues, and he tends to make the stupid decisions that Stafford would make last year. 2) ST. LOUIS RAMS> ANDRE SMITH, OT, ALABAMA-¬†¬†I don‚Äôt see any reason to change this pick as a result of Smith‚Äôs issues at Alabama. They don‚Äôt seem like the kind of behavioral issues that would seriously hurt his draft stock and the Rams are still looking to beef up the O-Line, which they failed to do last year by missing out on Jake Long. ¬†3)Read More »

NFL Mock Draft Version 1

Our first NFL Mock is now available. We will be doing 2-3 mock drafts¬†per month leading¬†up until the NFL Draft in April. (Photo courtesy of SD Dirk) 1. DETROIT LIONS,¬†MATTHEW STAFFORD, QB, GEORGIA (6-2 235 lbs) – I really do not believe that either Stafford or Bradford is worthy of the top selection in this year‚Äôs draft, but the Lions need at the position is probably going to force them into the selection. Stafford has the big arm and is probably the safer pick at this point. With that said, both Bradford and Stafford are not definitely entering the draft. If (and I don‚Äôt see this happening) both Stafford and Bradford remain in school for another season there is not a quarterback worthy of the top selection. Two other options for the Lions are to either address the offensive line by drafting Andre Smith or Michael Oher, or they couldRead More »

AFC North Report

AFC North Rumors and News The Pittsburgh Steelers go into the this Sunday‚Äôs game healthier than they have been for a while. The Steelers should get Bryant McFadden back, who will be needed against the Cowboys prolific passing game. Despite being 8-4, it can be argued that the Cowboys could be the 2nd best team the Steelers face this season. Bengals President backs Marvin Lewis Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvel Lewish could be back next season despite a 1-10-1 season. Yesterday Bengals president Mike Brown asked if coach Marvin Lewis will get a chance to overcome this 1-10-1 season: “You cannot answer that question without undercutting someone. I am not going down that path. I think in many ways he has done an incredibly good job. Our players still try hard. He has them out there trying to the best of their ability.”… “I am not going to give oneRead More »

NFL: Crennel and Savage on the hot seat

Browns coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Phil Savage both could be on the hot seat, but changes probably won’t be made until after the season, a source close to the situation told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Both could lose their jobs – or both could keep them according to the paper. Crennel could go, and Savage could stay. Their seats both got hotter with Sunday’s 16-6 loss to the Texans and rumors are swirling that the benching of quarterback Brady Quinn did not sit well with ownership. If Crennel is fired, the Browns are expected to make a strong pitch to lure former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher to Cleveland. It remains to be seen whether that pursuit has begun but a Browns official disputed a internet report that the Browns have already held discussions with Cowher. Cowher is believed to be seeking $8M-$10M per season with full controlRead More »

NFL: Browns in talks with Bill Cowher?

Profootballtalk.com reports that the Browns are pursuing former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher to replace Romeo Crennel as their next head coach. Speculation has been rampant for sometime that Cowher would be on the Browns radar and a “source with knowledge of the situation” tells PFT that the Browns have already approached Cowher and are willing to give him $9 million a year. Sources around the Steelers believe Cowher would be interested in joining the Browns. It has been widely speculated that Cowher seeks full decision-making control wherever he ends up coaching. In other news, Bill Cowher a North Carolina State University alumnus will give the fall commencement address at North Carolina State University. The ceremony will be held Dec. 17. — Pittsburgh Business Times

NFL: Winslow shopped at the trade deadline?

Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow could be traded in the off-season. Winslow who is one of the games most talented tight ends was dangled at the trade deadline. The Browns will likely seek a 1st round pick in return for Winslow but due to his contract demands and the need to restock their system with draft picks, the Browns could look for a scenario that could net them multiple picks instead of being set on receiving a 1st rounder for Winslow.
