Legursky to workout for Bills on Tuesday, a return to Pittsburgh depends on how Steelers feel about Beachum as swing lineman

LATEST OTA’S BUZZ Two areas where the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have great depth is at nose tackle where Al Woods is running No. 2 on the depth chart and at the guard/center position where the team has John Malecki at the No. 2 center spot behind Maurkice Pouncey for now. With Doug Legursky still unsigned, he could find his way back onto the team in the next month or so, but the Steelers are in no rush to resign Legursky. Whether Legursky were to return, it’s going to depend on how the Steelers feel about Kelvin Beachum following OTA’s and mini-camp. The Steelers are giving Beachum a long look at being the Steelers primary swing lineman this season at the tackle, guard and center positions. The team hopes he can fill that role and if the team is comfortable in Beachum being the new swing lineman, then the team won’tRead More »

Steelers Free Agency Buzz: Odds lessen of Legursky, Lewis resigning?

LATEST STEELERS FREE AGENCY BUZZ The Steelers signing of William Gay to a three year, $4.5 million contract directly effects Keenan Lewis who badly wants to return and continue playing under Dick LeBeau. However, the Steelers jumping on Gay and overpaying him when 10 days from now they could have likely signed him to a 1 year, vet minimum deal, plays in part to the belief that the value the Steelers have on Lewis is even lower than first believed and they expect to lose him. We can’t rule out Lewis resigning with Pittsburgh as the Steelers will monitor his market, but the odds have lessened from last week and word in Steelers circles is they won’t be losing any sleep over Lewis signing elsewhere. Looking to become more of a dynamic defense that creates turnovers, management wants Cortez Allen put into the starting lineup opposite Ike Taylor and there’sRead More »

Four Steelers UFA’s with best odds of resigning

STEELERS FREE AGENCY BUZZ Out of the Steelers 17 unrestricted free agents, several won’t be back, and few are a priority for the team who don’t plan to resign notable veterans Max Starks and Casey Hampton, and expect Mike Wallace and Ramon Foster to sign bigger deals elsewhere. The Steelers today are meeting with WR Steve Breaston at their team facility and there continues to be a sense that the Steelers get a deal done with Breaston at some point for the sole reason that there’s really not a market out there for the 29 year old receiver. However, the Steelers are only willing to offer the league minimum and they have felt Breaston wants more money than they are willing to offer, so it’s very possible things fall through. Meanwhile, free agency is 13 days away and here’s some buzz in Steelers circles of four players considered to haveRead More »
