The Philadelphia Flyers may have the most depth at the forward position in the National Hockey League. They don’t have a Malkin or Crosby but top to bottom they are much deeper than the Penguins. Sources tell me the Rangers are inching closer to signing Mats Sundin. Rangers GM Glen Sather is aggressively trying to move Petr Prucha who has a cap hit of $1.6 million. Sundin is open to signing for $3.5 – $4 million per season. Vancouver is Sundin’s fall back option. According to a source, now that Penguins General Manager Ray Shero got a decent look at the top WBS players, he is developing a plan to make some personnel moves/trades. There is some concern in the organization

Hal Gill out 2-4 weeks

 

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Hal Gill will miss two to four weeks with a shoulder injury, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. Gill suffered the injury on December 6 at Ottawa during the third period.

Scuderi to be a Game Time Decision

 

Lineup News: Rob Scuderi skated in the morning skate and will test his injured foot during the pregame skate before making a final decision as to whether he will play tonight. Scuderi wants to see how is foot reacts this afternoon. Scuderi did say following the morning skate that it is a definite that he will play Saturday night against the Sabres. If Scuderi unable to go tonight, Mark Eaton will return to the lineup. Max Talbot who started Tuesday night’s game on a line with Pascal Dupuis and Eric Godard will be back on Sidney Crosby’s line tonight.
