JAGR SCORED 690TH CAREER GOAL Jaromir Jagr moved into a tie with Mario Lemieux on the all-time goals list, scoring the overtime winner vs the Los Angeles Kings last night. It was Jagr’s 9th goal of the season and 690th career goal, tying Lemieux for 9th in NHL history. Jagr has hit in the 690 goal mark in 1,412 games, while Lemieux finished his career with 690 goals in just 915 games. Jagr’s 18 career overtime goals are first in league history and he made some more history last night tying Gordie Howe for the NHL lead in career game winning goals with 121. Jagr who showed signs of looking finished last post-season, is off to a tremendous start with

Jagr dealt to Bruins

Mark you calendars Penguin fans. The Dallas Stars today traded Jaromir Jagr to the Boston Bruins for forwards Lane MacDermid, Cody Payne and a conditional second round draft pick. The conditional second round pick will become a first-rounder if the Stars win two rounds. Jagr lead the Stars with 14 goals and 26 points and Jagr played so well that Dallas strongly considered resigning him. For the Bruins, Jagr is their consolation prize for missing out on Jarome Iginla. In 1,380 career NHL games, Jagr has scored 679 goals, 1000 assists. The Penguins and Bruins play in Boston on Friday April 19th.

GAME DAY BUZZ The trade deadline is one day away and things are starting to heat up around the league. All eyes are now on Jaromir Jagr who will be traded before Wednesday’s 3:00 p.m. deadline. Will the Boston Bruins finally close an impact deal? They are the clear front runners for Jagr but there is a lot of interest in the future Hall of Famer. Detroit, Philadelphia, and Montreal are among the teams with their eye on Jagr. Another notable name to keep an eye on is New York Islanders Mark Streit who the Islanders are undecided about moving but will do so for a big return. The Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers have emerged as the front runners

Trade Deadline Buzz: Five Western Conference teams GM’s are watching closely

TRADE DEADLINE REPORT The trade market is stagnant, mostly due to how tight things are out west. Just six points separate the Colorado Avalanche who are 15th in the conference and the San Jose Sharks who are 8th in the conference. General Managers are not yet ready to sell off rental players and the prices are outrageous even for depth players. The market could stay like this all the way up until 48 hours before the April 3rd trade deadline. Here are five Western Conference Teams General Managers are keeping a close eye on: Calgary Flames (11-11-4, 26 pts), 14th in conference Trade Deadline Buzz: It’s no secret what the Calgary Flames should do; “Rebuild”. Everyone knows it except Flames

NHL News & Notes: Jagr reportedly to test FA, Jackman resigns with Blues

Some afternoon NHL tidbits: — Another coveted free agent won’t be hitting the open market. Defenseman Barrett Jackman has resigned with the St. Louis Blues, agreeing to a three year, $9.5 million deal. Jackman was fully expected to attract interest and probably left some money on the table. Jackman was a +20 last season in 81 games played and has played his entire career in St. Louis. — The sense inside the Flyers organization since their second round ouster is that Jaromir Jagr will test free agency, and that appears to be the plan, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. According to Dreger, Jagr also intends to alter his off-season training to get faster and lose some weight. Jagr is coming

Off-Day Pens Buzz: On Jagr and Talbot’s return; Pens to see Bobrovsky; Malkin reflects on Jagr, linemates

Off-Day Flyer Notes A ton of buzz for tomorrow night’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers and what a big surprise there. The drama surrounding the game centers around Jaromir Jagr and Max Talbot when it probably should be about two of the best Eastern Conference teams facing off and the top two points leaders in Claude Giroux (44 pts) and Evgeni Malkin (42 pts) going head to head. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia each have identical wins (21) and points (46) going into tomorrow night’s showdown but the team have been going in different directions of late as the Penguins are riding a four game winning streak, while Philadelphia has lost four of give games. Jagr returns to Pittsburgh

Jagr didn’t owe Pittsburgh anything

Here’s my final take on the Jagr situation for this summer because I’m sick of talking about it: He didn’t owe Pittsburgh anything. The Jagr situation got blown out of proportion from the Pittsburgh fan base for two reasons: 1. Jagr’s agent saying “Jagr’s heart is in Pittsburgh.” We never heard Jagr say that and Svoboda said a lot of things during the process that had no merit. 2. The Media, most notably a local report Thursday morning saying that there was a handshake deal in place with the Penguins, something the Penguins and Jagr have denied. Those two factors have made Jagr look worse in this situation than maybe he should have. Jagr today in a conference call, denied

Latest Developments: Jagr still “warming up” to Pens offer

Source: Jagr wants to make Pittsburgh work but… Look for the Jaromir Jagr saga to go well into the afternoon and possibly into Friday. Here’s where things stand as of 10:00 a.m. this morning: Jagr’s agent Petr Svoboda is scheduled to speak with the Penguins, Red Wings, Canadiens this morning and possibly a fourth darkhorse team that has been lurking. The plan according to Svoboda to speak with those teams, than discuss more at length with Jaromir later in the day and see where things go. Svoboda said a “decision” could come today but didn’t guarantee that one will. Svoboda, as we reported last night, said Jagr wasn’t expected to get “settled” into New York until around 10:30 p.m. Sources

By delaying decision, Jagr rolling the dice on return to Pittsburgh

Latest on Jagr The Jaromir Jagr saga has taken it’s twists and turns in the past four days. A lot of those twists and turns have been orchestrated by his agent Petr Svoboda. Svoboda who on Wednesday said a decision from Jagr could be made in a couple days, now says a decision will not be made until July 1, according to the Detroit News. The NHL informed Svoboda today that Jagr can’t sign with an NHL team until July 1. That was news to Svoboda as he was not aware of that prior to being informed from the league and it’s up for debate whether the GM’s Jagr was talking with were also aware of that. Sources in Jagr’s
