Jarvis Jones diagnosed with AC chest sprain


Linebacker Jarvis Jones has been officially diagnosed with an AC chest sprain, head coach Mike Tomlin said today. Jones won’t play in the preseason finale Thursday but Steelers officials are confident in Jones being ready for week 1. “It’s just one of those incidents where you fall on top of the ball and everyone else falls on top of you too,” Jones said. “I fell on top of the ball and it knocked the breath out of me. I don’t know how many people fell on top of me. I fell on the ball and our staff wanted to get it checked and make sure I didn’t do any damage.”

Monday’s Practice Report By Dale Grdnic LATROBE, Pa. — In an attempt to level the playing field, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced which defensive player would be pass-rushing in the “Backs-on-Backers” drill Monday during training camp at Saint Vincent College, but outside linebacker Jarvis Jones still got the best of running back Le’Veon Bell in the featured matchup between the team’s top two draft picks. Jones blasted over Bell on one occasion and went around him on another, but the running back held his own in the third matchup.
