Report: Patriots near deal with Panthers for DE Julius Peppers

Vic Carucci of NFL.com reports, the New England Patriots are primed to acquire Panthers star defensive end Julius Peppers in-exchange for the second round pick (34th overall) that the Patriots received in the Matt Cassel trade. According to the report, the two sides are hopeful to finalize a deal before the draft.
