The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Joey Galloway, the team confirmed this afternoon. Galloway, 38, visited the Steelers in the off-season prior to signing with New England and will replace Limas Sweed on the active roster. Galloway (7 receptions) struggled with the New England Patriots this season and was released at mid-season. As expected the Steelers have signed long snapper Jared Retkofsky to replace Greg Warren on the active roster. Warren, a fifth-year pro, has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a right knee injury after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on the final play of Sundays game against the Green Bay Packers. Timmons unable to make it through Wednesday’s Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers starting inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons predicted on Monday that he would play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Going into Wednesday’s practice that appeared to be the case, but mid-way through Wednesday’s practice Timmons re-injured his ankle and his status for Thursday’s practice is up in the air. Timmons and Troy Polamalu were the only players on the injured report this week but 2nd year wide receiver Limas Sweed has joined them.
