The Latest Steelers Draft Buzz I’m hearing the Steelers have Alex Mack as the top rated center on their board but they like Max Unger better because he can play all three positions and they like Eric Wood better than Mack because he is the better guard of the three. Some see Mack as being one dimensional while Wood and Unger offer much more versatile which is what the Steelers are looking for if they decide to go offensive linemen in the 1st round. Vasquez, Davis, Unger among 5 prospects visiting Steelers today

 

CB Vontae Davis and C Max Unger headline a group of five draft prospects visiting the Steelers today. Davis is regarded as a first round pick and Unger is seen as a second round selection. As we mentioned on Saturday, Texas Tech guard Louis Vasquez had to reschedule his visit due to a death in the family. Vasquez is at the Steelers facility today. Texas Tech guard Louis Vasquez to visit the Steelers on Monday

 

I spoke to the agent for Texas Tech guard Louis Vasquez this morning and the Steelers will host Vasquez for a visit Monday afternoon. Vasquez had a visit scheduled with the Steelers on April 7th. He arrived in Pittsburgh, met with a Steelers official but found out during the night of his arrival that a close family member had passed away. Vasquez‚Äôs representatives spoke very highly of the Steelers professionalism as the Steelers allowed Vasquez to take the first flight in the morning back home to allow Vasquez to be with his family and friends. Steelers to host Mack, Wood and Vasquez this week

 

The Pittsburgh will host three offensive linemen on Sunday – Tuesday. At the top of the Steelers wishlist in the first round is Cal’s Alex Mack. The Steelers had three representatives at Cal’s pro day and Ed Thompson reports, Mack will be in Pittsburgh for a visit on Sunday On Monday the Steelers will hold a private workout for Louisville center Eric Wood. Wood has been a player of interest since the combine, where the Steelers met with Wood On Tuesday the Steelers will be busy again hosting another offensive lineman.
