League sources tell me there are mixed opinions around the league regarding Alex Goligoski’s trade value. Goligoski and Luca Caputi not 2007 1st round pick Angelo Esposito were the two prospects at last year’s trade deadline that Penguins GM Ray Shero received the most calls about in his pursuit of a top 6 winger for Sidney Crosby last season. Alexander Ovechkin had two goals and 1 assist, including 10 shots on goal as the Capitals beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 Wednesday night at Mellon Arena. Ovechkin and the Caps outshot the Penguins 42-29 and broke the game wide open in the third period outscoring the Penguins 4-1 in the third period. The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Washington Capitals 6-3 Wednesday night and also lost Sidney Crosby, Rob Scuderi and Max Talbot to Injuries during the course of the game. The Penguins didn’t put together a 60 minute game but they controlled the play for the first two periods and beat the Philadelphia Fylers 4-2 Tuesday night at the Wachovia Center. The Penguins took the ice this morning at 11:00 a.m. and as expected head coach Michel Therrien made it through the weekend. Therrien and his staff are on the hot seat as the Penguins are 6-14 since December 1st. Prior to this morning‚Äôs practice the Penguins re-assigned forward Tim Wallace who appeared in 13 games with the Penguins.
