Penguins trade Ryan Whitney to Anaheim

The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Ryan Whitney to the Anaheim Ducks for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi, according to TSN.Ca. The Penguins have confirmed the trade. Kunitz, 29, has 16 goals and 35 points in 62 games this season. He is signed through 2011-12 season with a cap hit of $3.725 million. Left Winger Eric Tangradi, 20, ( 6-3, 215lbs) is the Ducks #2 rated prospect. In 52 games, this season he has 38 goals – 49 assists – 87 points and 57 penalty minutes with Belleville of the Ontario Hockey League. Chris Minard has been placed on waivers.

Personnel wise this team is flawed. There is no way around it. I am all about the Penguins moving to a more up-tempo system but all Dan Bylsma will be is a fresh face. Until the roster is upgraded where the Penguins can be effective playing a up-tempo system, were not going to see much improvement.
