According to sources, the Boston Red Sox are interested in acquiring left-handed reliever Damaso Marte and have inquired about Marte on a couple of occassions. An offer has not been made yet, i can confirm.. Marte is holding lefty batters to an .087 batting average (four hits in 46 at-bats). Opponents are hitting batting .286 (14 hits in 49 at-bats) against the Rex Sox current lefty specialist Javier Lopez. The Providence Journal has also speculated in the Red Sox having interest in Marte.
