The Penguins were outshot 40-17 but were still able to salvage a point against hockey’s best team. Pittsburgh got goals from Dominic Moore and Chris Thorburn. Anaheim got goals Chris Kunitz, Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne who took a cross ice pass from Scott Niedermayer and one-timed it in for the power-play game-winner 44 seconds into overtime.

At the start of the game Colby Armstrong was dropped to the 4th line and did not see much ice time except for penalty kill situations. Crhis Thorburn was rewarded for his play, by playing along side Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The Penguins desperately need a scoring winger to complement Crosby and Malkin. Sidney Crosby has now gone 10 periods without a shot. He has played great defensive hockey during the west coast trip but he needs to shoot the puck more. Brooks Orpik made his debut and looked good in every asset of the game. I don’t see how this team could trade a hard hitting defenseman like Orpik who has a cap number of 1.1 million for the next two years. Ryan Whitney’s play has dropped significantly the past few games. This has been Whitney’s style during his young career. For 10 games he’ll look like a potential #2 defenseman then on other nights he looks like Melichar.
