Lot’s of money for a new deal on a 32 year old… He is still pretty productive I guess and I am sure there may be some loyalty written into that deal
every player in the league has said backstrom is the most underrated player
He has always been in that category but he will be 33 and Washington had the option to be more careful with a 33 year old at this point. It was risky, this isn’t like the retirement deals handed out for long term to capture the best years at a very reasonable rate, this is a lot of money for a guy closing in on 33 meaning he will be 37-38 by the end of it. and keith and seabrook contracts are horrible no one wants them
