The Penguins received some criticism tonight from Bob Costas on the NBCSN telecast and many others for not playing Sidney Crosby in Johnstown, a game Crosby wanted to play in. Mike Johnston took the blame.

“It’s 100 percent my call,” Johnston told reporters afterwards. “When making up those lineups in no way does a player ever say, I would like to play this game or that game. But, I know Sid asked about Quebec and he asked about Johnstown originally, and I told him he wasn’t playing and that he would play the home game against Detroit. I know from his reaction that he was disappointed.”
