A night after the Penguins – Capitals combined for 15 goals, the Dallas Stars (19-19-8, 46 pts) and New York Rangers  (28-16-1, 57 pts) combined for 13 goals in a 7-6 Stars win at MSG on Tuesday night.

Henrik Lundqvist was lit up for 7 goals on 20 shots. The Rangers have the explosive offense to compete with the elite teams in the East, but Lundqvist’ decline can be traced back to last spring and is a major problem moving forward as the Rangers look more like a second tier level team in the East than a top tier team, despite their point total at this point.

Lundqvist has allowed 12 goals over his last two games and has an .841 save percentage in the month of January. The last season Lundqvist had a save percentage under .920 was 2008-2009. Right now he has a career low .902 save percentage on the season.
