Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported last week that the Toronto Maple Leafs are the favorite to sign free agent Nikita Zaitsev (6-2, 200) but says not to discount the Pittsburgh Penguins in his latest 30 Thoughts Segment. “One very good source warned not to discount Pittsburgh, if Gary Roberts remains in the organization. Zaitsev started training with him three years ago,” Friedman reports.
