Carolina 2 – Pittsburgh 1

The Pittsburgh Penguins (15-14-3, 33 pts) are creeping closer to the cellar of the Eastern Conference. Cam Ward made 37 saves, leading the Carolina Hurricanes (13-15-5, 31 pts) to a 2-1 victory over the Penguins on Saturday night.

Pittsburgh’s losing streak is now at five games and the team is 0-4 under new coach Mike Sullivan. While the shot totals continue to rise under Sullivan, 38 shots tonight, scoring goals has become even more difficult for the Penguins since the coaching change. Pittsburgh has a total of four goals in four games under Sullivan.

Evgeni Malkin (15) scored the Penguins lone goal, a power play marker in the second period. Matthew Murray made 24 saves on 26 shots in his NHL debut.
