Forwards Carter Rowney and Jake Guentzel were officially re-assigned to Wilkes Barre/Scranton this morning.
Guentzel regarded by team officials as the top forward prospect in the Penguins’ system, showed many signs of being close to NHL ready but ran into a numbers game in trying to make the team out of camp.
Carter Rowney also had a strong camp/preseason and made a big jump up the Penguins’ depth chart. Rowney had two preseason goals, tied for the team lead.
