How do you send down a player back to juniors that is getting better everygame he plays. How do you send a player back to juniors who leads the league in shorthanded goals? Well Jordan Staal is making that decision on Ray Shero that much harder. Jordan Staal scored 2 shorthanded goals to lead the Penguins to a 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Quellet and Gonchar scored power play goals in the 1st period but Jordan Staal’s shorthanded goal late in the second period put the Penguins on top at 3-2 and they never looked back. Evgeni Malkin added the 4th goal and Jordan Staal top things off with a shorthanded penalty shot goal that put a damper to the Blue Jackets night. The Penguins improve to 4-3 on the season.

Buzzontheburgh’s Penguin Notebook:
Ryan Malone is out for 6 weeks. More on this in Monday’s edition. Marc Andre Fleury stopped 36 shots and was outstanding once again. The difference between this season and last season; pucks are hitting him right in the chest. His positioning is much improved to go along with a load of confidence. Giles Meloche the Penguins goaltending coach has to get a lot of credit for Fleury’s improvement. Let’s think back and remember who the Penguins goaltending coach was at the begining of last season; Shane freaking Clifford. The miracle man who goes from a goalie coach for the Pittsburgh Forge to the National Hockey League in a matter of seconds. This guy knows nothing about goaltending. Yes indeed the Craig Patrick regime, didn’t take coaching personnel too serious. Michelle Quellet has 4 goals in 7 games and the Penguins are 4-0 in games he has scored this season. Quellet is expected to move up to Sidney Crosby’s line for Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.

The Buzzontheburgh has learned the fates of Jordan Staal and Kris Letang but will not reveal what they have learned whether they are staying with the big club or going back to juniors until Monday morning’s edition is up. Here’s a hint. The Penguins have 2 games before their West coast trip and Orpik, Cairns are due back during the West Coast trip
