machceck PENGUINS ACQUIRE MACHACEK FROM BLUE JACKETS

In a minor league swap, the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Spencer Machacek from the Columbus Blue Jackets in-exchange for Paul Thompson, the team announced.
Machacek will report to Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
Machacek, 25, has 9 goals and 19 points in 34 games for the Springfield Falcons. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward has appeared in 25 career NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets, collecting 2 goals and 9 points. Machacek had 9 points in 13 NHL games with the Jets in 2011-2012 but has never become a regular at the NHL level.
Thompson, 25, has played the past four seasons for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. He has struggled this season with four goals and seven points in 39 games this season and it says a lot where the organization see’s him on the NHL depth as he never received a callup this season, despite a rash of injuries at the forward position. Thompson, though, scored 20 goals in 58 games last season.
