The Penguins had their final preseason game today in Finland. Sidney Crosby led the way with 3 assists. Crosby set up first period goals by Evgeni Malkin and Ruslan Fedotenko. Tyler Kennedy scored the Penguins third goal to put the Penguins up 3-1. Crosby assisted on Pascal Dupuis first goal of the preseason that put the Penguins up 4-1. Max Talbot, Paul Bissonnette, Bill Thomas, and Petr Sykora did not dress. Sykora and Talbot have minor injuries.
Is Janne Pesonen finding his comfort zone? Also which defenseman sits this weekend and which teams looking to unload defensemen have called the Penguins? Read more for the inside scoop

According to a source Janne Pesonen had his strongest week of practice in Stockholm. Part of the reason might be because he’s been seeing some valuable time with Evgeni Malkin due to Petr Sykora being sidelined but my source says Pesonen looks much better on right wing. He’s a shifty player who had some nice plays around the net on the right side according to my source. What was interesting in the info coming back to me this week is Pesonen is catching the puck better off the boards on right wing than he did on left wing. Pesonen struggled in the team’s preseason game in Tampa Bay and one of the main issues I saw from him was getting the puck of the D-Zone on the left side boards. Overall good week of practice for him but he is not pushing for top line minutes yet
Daryl Sydor is pushing hard to be in the lineup this weekend. My source said it will come down to Mark Eaton or Sydor. Both players have alternated through the week in practices. Therrien likes the Hal Gill – Rob Scuderi pairing and I’m told Scuderi will play this weekend
If Max Talbot is unable to dress this weekend, Tyler Kennedy will move up to center the third line and Jeff Taffe will center the 4th line. If Talbot plays, Taffe will likely be a scratch
Pittsburgh has been receiving calls from team’s looking to unload defenseman. Toronto, Florida and Calgary have made calls. Florida even tried to gauge trade interest in Jassen Cullinmore and as expected Pittsburgh expressed no interest
