The Steelers running back situation, at least until Rashard Mendenhall has played its self out in camp. With Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Chris Rainey making up the top-3 spots, things were setting up with Baron Batch and John Clay batting for the No. 4 spot but Clay has come up with a severe torn quad that has ended his season and Clay has been placed on the waive/injured list. The Steelers have signed running back Jason Ford (6-0, 248 lbs). He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Illinois in May. Ford will wear No. 21. In 2011 as a senior at Illinois, Ford played in 12 games, making eight starts at tailback … ranked second on the team with 600 rushing yards and had a team-high seven rushing TDs on the season … Ford finished career with 1,962 rushing yards (16th-most in UI history) and 26 rushing TDs (2nd-most in UI history).
