PITTSBURGH — This was more like it for the Pittsburgh Steelers, more the way that they wanted to play and the way they believed they could play.
Sure, they gave up some yardage and points, but they easily outscored the San Francisco 49ers, 43-18, Sunday at Heinz Field. And that’s probably what they’ll need to do for the remainder of the season.
“I expect us to win downs in situations, and we did,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “We did what we were capable of. … We didn’t develop a new personality (in the red zone). I just think that we executed better on offense and defense.”
Ben Roethlisberger led the offense with 369 yards passing (21-for-27) and three touchdowns, while Antonio Brown tallied nine catches for 195 yards and one score. DeAngelo Williams ran 20 times for 77 yards and the three TDs.
