Observations
Steelers offense: The Steelers first team offense was impressive. Ben Roethlisberger played one series going 2/3 – 73 yards. If it wasn’t for Nate Washington dropping a Roethlisberger pass near the Saints 10 yd line Ben would have finished the day 3/3.

Steelers defense: The defense looked sharp confusing Drew Brees and the Saints offense during the few series Brees played in. Lamar Woodley did not look out of place. Brett Keisel stood out early on. Keisel is going to be used exclusively as a pass rushing specialist on third down this season. Look for him to improve on the 5.5 sacks he had last season. Rookie safety William Gay also made a impression tonight throwing some nice hits in the fourth quarter.

Notable players
Cedric Wilson: 4 catches – 99 yards
Santonio Holmes: 3 catches – 48 yards – 1td: Holmes did not play with the first team due to him missing the first week of training camp but he looked outstanding. Holmes ran great routes and ran a great fade pattern on a 3yd touchdown pass from quarterback Brian St. Piere.
Carey Davis: 7 carries – 68 yards: Davis has a Barry Foster build about him and made a name for himself tonight. Davis listed at 5’10 225lbs worked mostly with the second team due to a solid practice week and has caught the coaching staffs eye according to Steelers insider. This week could be a make or break week for running Kevan Barlow who has been a big dissapointment thus far.
