Ten Reasons For Penguins Fans Not To Panic Yet:
1. Sidney Crosby
2. The series is only tied; the Penguins are not behind and have yet to even trail in the series
3. In any seven-game block this season in which Pittsburgh was 2-2 in the first four of those games, they were a composite 24-3 over the next three games
4. The last time Pittsburgh lost 3-out-of-4 games (which is what would have to play out for NYI to win the series) was January 23-29 (Games 3 thru 6 of the regular season, 46 games ago). At no point this season did they lose 3-straight games
5. The #8 seed is rarely a pushover anymore. In the past 5 years, #8 seeds are 25-30 in the first round and only twice have any of those series gone less than 6 games. But the #8 seed still only won 3 of those 10 series
6. Evgeni Nabokov has a .846 SV% and a 4.55 GAA this series, which ranks last among starters and considerably lower than Marc-Andre Fleury’s .891 SV% and 3.40 GAA
7. Tomas Vokoun was 3-0 against the Islanders in the regular season with a 0.90 GAA and .970 SV%. For his career against NYI, Vokoun is 17-7-1 with a 1.95 GAA, a .937 SV%, and 5 shutouts
8. The Penguins still hold home-ice advantage, as two of the remaining three games (if necessary) will be at Consol Energy Center
9. The last 5 Cup winners played the following number of games in the first round those years: 5, 7, 6, 6, and 6
10. In the 3 years Pittsburgh won the Cup, their first-round series went to 7, 7, and 6 games, respectively
