Analysis: Did the Penguins get enough in return?

On Monday at practice it became clear that something was up when Ryan Whitney wasn’t even working with the #2 power play in practice. On Tuesday, Whitney was the 7th defensemen in drills which based on performance might have made sense but because the Penguins were actively shopping Whitney, it didn’t make sense. The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Ryan Whitney to the Anaheim Ducks for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi, according to TSN.Ca. The Penguins have confirmed the trade. Kunitz, 29, has 16 goals and 35 points in 62 games this season. He is signed through 2011-12 season with a cap hit of $3.725 million. Left Winger Eric Tangradi, 20, ( 6-3, 215lbs) is the Ducks #2 rated prospect. In 52 games, this season he has 38 goals – 49 assists – 87 points and 57 penalty minutes with Belleville of the Ontario Hockey League. Chris Minard has been placed on waivers.
