Morning Pens Buzz: On Cooke, Crosby, Tangradi, Vitale, Third Line & Penguin League Ranks
MORNING PENGUINS BUZZ — The NHL informed the Penguins this morning that there will be no discipline or hearing for Matt Cooke. The Senators were pushing hard for the league to take action but the league told both teams they felt there was no intent. The only argument on Cooke you could make is that he was careless with his skate but it was really just a play that went bad. — Many ask what went wrong with Eric Tangradi as he never developed into an impact NHL player with the Penguins. Well expectations were too high from the get go for Tangradi and he was arguably drafted higher than he probably should have been by the Anaheim Ducks. Tangradi
Post-Game Buzz: Breaking down Penguins 5-2 loss and is Tangradi’s opportunity with Malkin nearing an end?
LEAFS – PENGUINS POST GAME BUZZ The Penguins had seven giveaways and were plagued by poor puck management Wednesday night in their 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, whether it would be a failure to get pucks deep or turnovers inside their own end. “There just wasn’t enough execution with the puck and management of the puck to play where we needed to play,” head coach Dan Bylsma said. “We didn’t have enough shifts in their end and we didn’t execute and make passes thru the neutral zone as good as we could have. Definitely not our best game,” Penguins captain Sidney Crosby said afterwards. Poor puck management played a part in nearly every Leafs goal: Clark MacArthur’s goal

PENS NOTES CBA BUZZ: Bill Daly and Steve Fehr had what is being called a marathon meeting that started Saturday afternoon and didn’t end until 1:00 a.m. this morning. The two tackled a number of issues, according to Daly, and there is believed to be some small traction made between the two sides. We’re entering a crucial week and the next meetings among a larger group of representatives this coming week will be the true sign on where this is headed. Pens Prospect Buzz: Tangradi starting to get it? Morrow racking up pts in Conference Final
PENS PROSPECT BUZZ In Pittsburgh’s first round series with the Philadelphia Flyers, we saw a different Eric Tangradi on the ice who added a physical edge to his game and used his size very well in two games played. In those two games, Tangradi played the type of gritty game he needs to bring to the table on a consistent basis to be an NHL regular and Tangradi had a productive night in his first AHL playoff action of the season Wednesday night.
Monday’s Pens Buzz: On Tangradi callup; Trade Front & Backup goaltender situation
The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forward Eric Tangradi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, just after 5:00 p.m. today. Tangradi who has struggled mightily at the NHL level, has appeared in 12 NHL games this season, going scoreless with 12 penalty minutes and a minus-5 rating. He has mostly played a fourth line role, averaging 9:13 of ice time with the big club and was a major liability defensively in his most recent stint with the team in January.  Tangradi, 23, has 15 goals and 31 points in 37 games for the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins. Nearly every time Tangradi is recalled, some almost always look too much into it and that will surely be the case this time around as the trade
