Felix Jones making impression on Tomlin

The explosiveness from Felix Jones appears to be gone but the former first round pick showed good cutback ability and vision, rushing for a team-high 56 yards on 14 carries in the Steelers 25-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night. Jones appears to be making an impression on Mike Tomlin. “I thought Felix Jones helped himself,” head coach Mike Tomlin said. “His pedigree showed. His natural run instincts showed. We’ll continue to look at it and go through the process in a proper manner once we get back to Pittsburgh.”

Felix Jones slated to play around 8 to 12 snaps vs Chiefs

Running back Felix Jones is in need of making a strong impression starting tonight vs the Kansas City Chiefs and the Steelers are expected to give him that opportunity. Jones is currently slated to play around 8-12 snaps and possibly get some return time. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley is said to be intrigued about Jones ability to catch out of the backfield, so look for some possible designed screens to Jones. In two preseason games with the Eagles, Jones rushed for 45 yards on 12 carries, with a long run of 8 yards.
