NFL: Steelers release Najeh Davenport

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a few roster moves today. Just days after re-signing running Najeh Davenport, the Steelers have released Davenport again and promoted defensive tackle Scott Paxson from their practice squad to their 53-man roster. The 6-4, 292-pound Paxson played in one game this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 5th. Cornerback Roy Lewis who played well in training camp has been re-signed to the practice squad.

NFL: Steelers officially sign Najeh Davenport

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed running back Najeh Davinport. Davenport who was released in June after the Steelers additions of 1st round pick Rashard Mendenhall and Mewelde Moore, will be counted on until Willie Parker returns to action. Davenport failed to land another job and there was minimal interest in Davenport around the league. Mike Tomlin indicated today at his press conference that the team will sign two running backs. The Steelers have had discussions with others but there has been no confirmation that the Steelers are bringing in another back for a workout. Running back Gary Russell is currently on the practice squad
